English Conversation Update

In the second half of this winter semester, the fifth grade advanced English conversation class completed Travel Projects.

Our goal was to combine vocabulary about clothing and weather from the end of our textbook with the Spring Break travel that was on everyone’s mind. First, we took time to look at a world map and choose one place to travel to when the weather is hot and one place to travel to when the weather is cold.

After choosing two different cities and climates to visit, the students all did research about their destinations for homework. They were asked to research things like famous foods, famous sights, and famous things to do there. In class, we worked together to write and correct our sentences. Students also had to put together a packing list by doing research about the weather at the time of year they were planning to travel.

In the end, the students were all able to read and write about travel destinations in English. They were also able to make a short travel plan and packing list in order to prepare for their travels.
